ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Florida Gov. Rick Scott is giving his approval to a bill that would create three sales tax holidays this year.

Scott signed the bill Monday at the annual governor's hurricane conference.

The measure (HB 5601) includes a nine-day sales tax holiday on the sale of hurricane preparation supplies such as batteries, flashlights and generators. This holiday starts May 31.

The legislation also authorizes a three-day back-to-school sales tax holiday in August.

Under the bill, shoppers would not have to pay sales taxes on any clothes worth $100 or less, school supplies worth $15 or less or on the first $750 of a personal computer.

The bill includes a three-day sales tax holiday in September on the purchase of energy-efficient appliances. The legislation also eliminates sales taxes on children's bike helmets.
