PORT RICHEY, Fla. (970 WFLA) – Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies say they are investigating a home invasion robbery that happened Wednesday night around 11 p.m. on the 6900 block of Alta Vista Lane.
Deputies say one man knocked on the front door of the home while armed with a handgun disguised with a mask and demanded entry into the residence.
When a woman inside wouldn’t let him in, deputies say the man shattered a front window and began to crawl inside.
The woman ran to her bedroom and grabbed her boyfriend's handgun, deputies say, and fired multiple rounds at the suspect and he ran from the home.
Officials say man was then seen fleeing the scene westbound on Alta Vista in a car and then crashed into a home on the 9800 block of El Camino Real. Deputies say he was taken to an area hospital with a gunshot wound and is currently listed in critical condition. The suspect is a known gang member, according to PCSO.
During deputies investigation at the home on Alta Vista, the woman’s boyfriend returned home and he was also arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to sell.
