PINELLAS (970 WFLA) – Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office detectives say they arrested a Pinellas Park firefighter who now faces charges for sale and possession of prescription pills.

Sheriff’s officials say their narcotics team received information on Friday, July 11th, 2014 that the suspect, who they identified as 38-year-old James Allen Comer, was selling prescription drugs. According to PCSO, detectives began their investigation, and through a controlled purchase from the suspect on Friday evening, developed probable cause to arrest him.

Deputies say Comer was arrested on Saturday, July 12th in the parking lot of Northside Hospital where officials say he works part time as an ER nurse. Detectives say Comer sold and was in possession of eight different types of prescription pills, to include morphine, xanax, hydromorphone and oxycontin. Deputies say he was arrested for 8-counts sale of a controlled substance and 8-counts possession of a controlled substance and was transported to the Pinellas County jail.

Investigators say the manner in which Comer obtained the medication is still the subject of an open investigation.
