UPDATE: Tornado Watch in effect until 11:00 pm for the following counties.
TAMPA, Fla. (970 WFLA) - Thunderstorms are expected Monday with a slight risk of severe storms that will be capable of producing damaging winds, locally heavy rains, and frequent deadly lightning strikes.
These storms will push across the nature coast during early morning and reach the TampaBay area mid to late morning then spread across the rest of the area in the afternoon.
Strong southerly winds will create hazardous conditions on area lakes, generally along and south of the I-4 corridor.
High winds and seas on the Gulf of Mexico will result in high surf that will produce rip currents along area beaches today and tonight.
