TAMPA, Fla (News Channel 8)- Walk into the library on USF's Tampa campus, and you're greeted with a hand-made sign with victory declared. It says "we won."
Soon, the library doors will stay open 24-5, meaning around the clock, 5 days a week, just like last year. Students who depend on the facility are very happy. "The library is always open 24 hours during finals week. It's extremely beneficial to students. And I think it should always be open 24 hours" said Grace Binder.
The change of heart comes after overnight protests including an old fashioned "sit out" in front of the locked facility, a petition and lots of letters. "We fought for this. We've gone through this. And the more the media came into this, the quicker they knew they had to settle it. So it was you guys that made the difference along with student rights and it sends a very powerful to administration" said USF student Ryan Emison.
