INDIAN SHORES, Fla. (970 WFLA) -- Pinellas deputies and Indian Shores police drew their weapons and shot 26-year-old Kentin "Deon" Brooks to death after police say he shot at them Wednesday night on Gulf Boulevard.
It was the end to a pursuit that began when deputies spotted Brooks speeding and driving erratically in a black Mustang. One tried to pull him over but broke off the chase when he drove off The Sheriff's Office says Brooks drove back to them and "did a donut" -- spinning his car 360 degrees -- and rammed an Indian Shores police cruiser. Deputies used a PIT manuever to spin him out and forced him into a power pole at Gulf Boulevard and 191st Avenue.
At that point, the sheriff's office says Brooks shot at their deputies and Indian Shores police. Three deputies and an Indian Shores officer fired back, killing him.
