Uber Driver Goes For The Gold

Palm Harbor, Fla. (970 WFLA)-An Uber driver is facing robbery charges after  deputies say he  grabbed a gold chain off the neck of a teenage customer and drove away.

According to the Pinellas Sheriff's Office report,  the driver 27 year old Alexander Troy of Clearwater had taken  the 17 year old and his friend to their destination in Palm Harbor, but became angry claiming the fare had been canceled.  

He told the 17 year old that he owed him money.  During the argument, the driver grabbed the necklace valued at several thousand dollars and took off.  Deputies found the driver at his Clearwater apartment and the chain.   Deputies also verified that the fare was paid for. 

Troy was booked into the Pinellas County Jail  charged with one count of strong armed robbery.
