Car Kills Pedestrian in Pinellas Park

Pinellas Park, Fla. (970 WFLA) - A pedestrian died after being struck by a car Monday night, Pinellas Park Police said. Officers responding to a call of a crash found Penny Cochran, 57, lying on the side of 62nd Avenue North just after 9 p.m.

Investigators say that a car driven by Matthew Rotkis, 32, struck Cochran as she walked in a lane of traffic near 55th Street North. The impact threw Cochran several feet. 

Neither Rotkis nor a 15-year-old passenger, also named Matthew Rotkis, suffered injuries, according to a news release. Police found no signs that the elder Rotkis was impaired, and say that no criminal charges are pending at this time.
