After Student's Death, FSU Shuts Down Frats

TALLAHASSEE (970 WFLA) -- Florida State University is indefinitely suspending all fraternities and sororities.

The order from FSU president John Thrasher goes into effect immediately.

This comes after a Pi Kappa Phi pledge was found dead after attending a party three days ago, and today's unrelated arrest of a Phi Delta Theta fraternity member on drug charges.  Thrasher says before the suspension is lifted, there will have to be a "new normal" in the Greek community that contributes to the well-being of all students.

Alcohol is also banned from FSU student events.
