Temporary Leader Permanent at Florida A&M

TALLAHASSEE (970 WFLA) -- After going more than a year without a permanent president, Florida A&M University has given the job to the man who's held it on an interim basis for more than a year.

The Board of Trustees voted unanimously to remove the "interim" from Larry Robinson's title. Robinson has been interim president three times, the latest since FAMU trustees voted to sack Elmira Mangum last year.

Dr. Robinson says he's humbled by the opportunity, calling it an "awesome" feeling. Robinson says he recognizes the need to carry on the historically black university's legacy, going back 130 years.  He's only the 12th permanent president in FAMU's history.
