Wesley Chapel, Fla. (970 WFLA)-What started out as a regular day on the job for a construction worker in Wesley Chapel quickly turned into a life or death situation, when the trench the man was working in collapsed.
The walls caved in trapping him at first, in waist deep mud, but the situation quickly worsened. After digging for almost 2 and a half hours, emergency crews from Pasco County Fire and Rescue along with a special team of trench collapse experts from Hillsborough County rescued the unidentified worker. He was air-lifted to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa to be checked out for injuries.
Experts from Occupational Safety and Health Adminstration are investigating.
