High Winds, Damage as Storms Sweep through Tampa Bay

TAMPA (970 WFLA) -- Damage reported in Pasco and Polk counties because of Thursday's stormy weather. 

More than 70 homes damaged at the Forest Lake Estates Mobile Home Park in Zephyrhills by straight line winds... Pasco fire rescue says five families are staying with friends or family after their homes were declared unlivable. 

Meantime, the National Weather service says an EF-zero tornado touched down in Myakka City. Another twister is blamed for damaging the roof of a home in Lake Wales and injuring a 90 year old woman. 

Several locations around the Tampa Bay area got drenched during Thursday's storms. A weather station in Lutz recorded four inches of rainfall in 12 hours... stations in several locations reported three inches or more. Neighborhoods on the south side of Lakeland recorded more than six inches of rain. A coastal flood watch is posted for areas near the Gulf and the Bay until one (Friday) afternoon. Flood warnings have been issued for the Alafia (al-uh-FY-uh) River in Riverview and for the Manatee River at Myakka (my-YAK-uh) and Rye Bridge.
