Local Students Disciplined After Dressing as Mexicans on Alien Day

The Pinellas County School District is investigating an incident involving two Seminole High School students who went to school dressed up as Mexicans for Extraterrestrial Day last Thursday. They were attempting to portray themselves as "illegal aliens" but now face potential disciplinary action over the stunt. They were asked to remove the outfits once school administrators became aware of what they were doing. Their social media post went viral, leading Pinellas County Schools to release this statement to News Channel 8:

"Cultural insensitivity is not tolerated at Seminole High School. Unfortunately, two students exercised poor judgement and wore an outfit that was offensive. The choices of these students were disappointing and are not reflective of the Seminole High community. Pinellas County Schools will follow the Student Code of Conduct to address this issue.”
