Reports surfaced early Wednesday morning that Tampa Bay Lightning captain Martin St. Louis is “encouraging” the Bolts to make a trade involving sending St. Louis to the New York Rangers. As the 3pm eastern time deadline nears for trades to be submitted to the league, could in fact the Bolts be seriously trying to move their captain with the playoffs nearing ever so close?
Tampa Bay Lightning television analyst Dave Andreychuk joined WDAE’s ‘The Sports Page’ on Wednesday morning and gave his thoughts on a possible deal involving St. Louis.
“It’s not easy for players to move but it’s part of the business,” said Andreychuk. “You have to know that eventually you’re going to get moved. I always go back to if they traded Wayne Gretzky, than they can trade me.”
Andreychuk is on record saying he would not like to see St. Louis leave the team with the playoffs around the corner, but did say the team would be getting a huge lift with the eventual return of Steven Stamkos.
