The Bolts are able to bag a point after scoring a late goal to force overtime against the Penguins.

Neither team could score in the first period. Each team had a power play opportunity but couldn’t take advantage. Ryan Malone was penalized at 3:51 for boarding Robert Bortuzzo and Bortuzzo was penalized at 13:05 for tripping Valtteri Filppula.

Sidney Crosby scored first at 8:17 of the second period to give the Penguins a 1-0 lead. Evgeni Malkin and Jeff Zatkoff had the assists. Filppula tied the game at 16:44 and got the helpers from Stamkos and Hedman.

Stamkos got a goal assisted by Killorn and Gudas at the 8:17 of the third period to give the Bolts a 2-1 lead. Malkin answered with a goal to tie the game up at the 11:07 point assisted by Matt Niskanen and Crosby. Malkin scored another goal at the 16:43 mark to give the Penguins a 3-2 lead. He was assisted by Jussi Jokinen. Ondrej Palat tied the game late with a huge goal assisted by Gudas and Carle to force overtime.

James Neal got the game winner in overtime assisted by Malkin and Crosby. The goal came just seconds after a questionable ‘too many men on the ice’ penalty against the Lightning. The Bolts fall to the Pens 4-3.

The Lightning come home Monday night to face the Ottawa Senators. The puck drops at 7:30 P.M. and the pregame gets started at 7 P.M. on 970 WFLA.
