Buccaneers Pre-Season Opponents Named

(via TampaBay Buccaneers Communications) -  The National Football League today unveiled its 2014 preseason slate, featuring opponent matchups and weeks, which has the Tampa Bay Buccaneers opening on the road at the Jacksonville Jaguars, followed by a home contest against the Miami Dolphins and a trip north to visit the Buffalo Bills before closing at home, hosting the Washington Redskins. Game dates and times will be released following the finalization of the national broadcast schedule.

Tampa Bay will open its preseason play at Jacksonville during Week 1 (August 7-10), facing a Jaguars squad under the direction of Head Coach Gus Bradley, who started his NFL career with the Buccaneers as a linebackers coach from 2006-08. The Buccaneers and Jaguars had their first preseason matchup in 2002 – a 20-0 road shutout for Tampa Bay – and became regular preseason opponents, meeting each of the following eight years (2003-10) before a break over the past three seasons (20011-13).

The Buccaneers face their other intrastate rival in Week 2 (August 14-18), as they host the Dolphins at Raymond James Stadium. This pairing continues the tradition of Tampa Bay’s longest-running preseason series and marks the 14th consecutive season and 29th time overall that the two clubs have faced off in the preseason. Miami leads the overall series, 16-12, but Tampa Bay has come out on top in eight of the last 12 preseason meetings, including for the last three consecutive seasons (2011-13).

In Week 3 (August 21-24), the Buccaneers travel north for a rare appearance in Buffalo to face the Bills. The two teams have played each other three times during the preseason – most recently in 1993 – and only once at Buffalo, in 1977. The Bills have a 2-1 advantage in the series.

For the second consecutive season, the Buccaneers close out their preseason schedule hosting the Washington Redskins in Week 4 (August 28). The preseason finale will give players a final opportunity to make their case for a roster spot before reduction to the 53-man active roster occurs.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are now offering season pass memberships at a wide variety of price points. Memberships start at just $30 (per game) for adults and $15 (per game) for youth.
