Looks like you can add another name to the list vying to start the regular season as part of the Rays' starting pitching rotation.

Manager Joe Maddon confirmed Wednesday that left-hander Cesar Ramos, who will get the start Wednesday in Port Charlotte against the New York Yankees, is being considered for the position to fill-in while right-hander Jeremy Hellickson recovers from elbow surgery.

"We talked to him about [starting] in our meetings," the Rays skipper said.  "He was all for it.  It's something he'd like to do."

Maddon said the reliever and executive vice president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman had conversations in the offseason about being a possible starter.

Ramos joins Erik Bedard, Jake Odorizzi, Nathan Karns, and Alex Colome who are all looking to join David Price, Alex Cobb, Matt Moore, and Chris Archer in the rotation.
