Red Sox Finish Sweep of Rays With 4-0 Win

The Red Sox finish the sweep of the Rays with a 4-0 win in Fenway. The loss increases the Rays losing streak to a season-high six games. On the other hand the Red Sox haven’t lost a game since being swept by the Rays at the Trop last week.

Bedard was looking okay through three innings pitching a scoreless outing. That ended in the bottom of the fourth inning when Gomes and Hassan got back-to-back base hits. After Gomes moved up to third base on a fly out by Ross, he scored on a Herrera sac fly. Holt then hit a double to left to score Hassan and Bradley Jr.

The Rays just couldn’t string hits together. The team had five hits, two of those being by Evan Longoria. He ended up going 2-for-4, which is a good sign.
Cecchini got an RBI double in the 7th inning which scored Holt. The Red Sox ended up defeating the Rays 4-0.

Lester was phenomenal in this game. His line: 7IP, 4H, 0ER, 1BB, 112 pitches.

Bedard didn’t even go five innings: 4.2IP, 5H, 3ER, 4BB, 4K, 104 pitches.

The Rays continue the road trip down in Miami tomorrow when they take on the Marlins. That game gets underway at 7pm.
