Estranged Biography of James
Born on the 24th of October in 1987, James Burlander grew up in Spring Hill, Florida. Growing up, James was the DJ at his former middle school, Fox Chapel. Currently, James is well on his way into the music industry.
Starting in 2001, James had the tremendous opportunity and privilege to learn about the radio industry from one of it's best, heritage CHR WFLZ (93.3 FLZ) in Tampa. James traveled the 53 miles south every opportunity he was given and was allowed to learn, watch, and occasionally interact on air in-studio with the stations air personalities. James spent most of his time learning about the work involved in putting together and executing an entertaining and flawless air-shift.
James looks forward to his future goals, one being the hope and desire of a career in radio; and in the future, a family. Another goal for James is to someday program his own radio station.
In April of 2005, James started to fill in, mixing, a few times for the "Bump In Yo' Trunk" on FLY 92.1 (WFFY/Ft. Walton Beach). This was a major step for James, and his first official step into the radio industry.
November of 2005, James got a call from the Assistant Program Director of WFLZ, Kane. Kane invited James down for what he thought would be a meeting to discuss future business opportunities. James was wrong; Kane brought James back into his office and laid down an application... and the rest is history.
James currently works as a part-time board-op for WFLA (News Radio 970 WFLA), WMTX (Mix 100.7), and WFLZ (93.3 FLZ), as well as doing some production and programming duties also for the stations.
I work with Dennis a lot, run his news cast... forget to turn his mic on at times... then annoy him while he's waiting to talk. Hey, it's good news! I also turn to Dennis when I can't remember a rock song's name... he notably rocks out during his newscast... I added a stobe effect.
I've been waiting for him to beg me for a link... Reed is actually the board-op who trained me (and he did it because he liked me, not because Fisher gave him the "get it done" death stare). The first show I ran, The Drudge Report (my favorite show, other than Glenn Beck), Reed coached me through it for 30 seconds, then ran out the door laughing.
Hal is probably the most comical and witty person around the station... always has a "crappy"-grin on his face about something... I'm sure his sense of wit will come out in his blogs also. Read it!
