Child Abuse, Foster Parenting, Citrus Farmers

TALLAHASSEE (970 WFLA) -- Governor Rick Scott is starting to reveal some of his "wish list" for next year's regular session.

The governor wants to spend 10 million dollars to add 130 child protective investigators, and almost 200 million dollars to help families adopting foster children.

Scott also wants 21 million dollars to help the citrus industry, hurt by Hurricane Irma.

Leaders in the legislature say there's no money for new items. The governor says there's plenty, if lawmakers will put aside their "pork" projects... also known as "turkeys."

"We have significant revenues over recurring expenses... I'm going to focus... on how we take care of families... I'm not going to focus on (lawmakers') projects," Scott says.

Scott is term limited out of office in January 2019.
